Oleic acid is an unsaturated fatty acid that contains a carbon-carbon double bond in its molecular structure and is the fatty acid that makes up olein. One of the most widely available naturally occurring unsaturated fatty acids. Oleic acid can be obtained by hydrolysis of grease with the formula CH3(CH2)7CH=CH(CH2)7·COOH. The glycerin of oleic acid is one of the main components of olive oil, palm oil, lard and other animal and vegetable oils.
 

Application Area

 

Sodium salt or potassium salt of oleic acid is one of the ingredients of soap. Pure sodium oleate has good decontamination ability and can be used as surfactant such as emulsifier.
Other metal salts of oleic acid can also be used in polishes and other aspects, and barium salts can be used as rodenticides. Oleic acid can be epoxidized to produce epoxy oleate (plasticizer). Can be used as plastic plasticizer, engineering plastic, synthetic fiber, softening agent, wood anti-corrosion additives, leather additives, all kinds of textile oil additives, finishing agent raw materials;
It can be used in the production of synthetic detergent, washing soap, emulsifier S-80, various cosmetic surfactants and dispersants; Used as printing ink solvent, composite adhesive; It can be used as collector and demulsifier for mineral processing. Can also be used in gear oil, rolling oil, hydraulic oil, metal cutting oil and other metal processing and lubricants.
Wool spinning industry is used to prepare antistatic agents and lubricating softeners.
Wood industry is used to prepare water-resistant paraffin emulsion. It can also be used as pesticide emulsifier, lubricant, printing and dyeing auxiliaries, industrial solvent, metal mineral flotation agent, release agent, grease hydrolysis agent, for the preparation of carbon paper, typist paper, ballpoint pen oil and various oleates. As a chemical reagent, as a contrast sample for chromatography, and for biochemical studies, the 75% alcohol solution of oleic acid can be used as a rust remover.
